Hinsilblon Odor Neutralizers
The Hinsilblon product line is designed to eliminate and reduce odors in industrial and municipal facilities. The products are true odor neutralizers and not masking agents. They have been carefully formulated to be effective for a variety of different site requirements. The products are biodegradable, environmentally safe, non-toxic, non hazardous and do not contain any petroleum distillates, free alkalis, or chlorinated solvents. The proprietary formulations of odor neutralizing ingredients are enhanced by the synergistic effect of trace elements. The odor neutralization results in an environmentally safe solution for all odor control applications. The conventional aerosol odor neutralizers are formulated to be diluted with water and applied as a mist or spray. The vapor products are formulated to not use any water and are applied as a vapor or gas. Proven Technology...
The products have been proven consistently effective in reducing the Odor Concentration, Odor Intensity, and Odor Persistence in tests conducted by independent international accredited testing laboratories. All testing was conducted in accordance with ANSI (American National Standards Institute) and ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials) standard practices, using the IITRI (Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute) Dynamic Dilution Forced-Choice Triangle Olfactometer and the IITRI Dynamic Dilution Binary Scale/Butanol Wheel Olfactometer.
Environmentally Safe...
The Hinsilblon products are USDA accepted for use in federally inspected meat, poultry, and egg facilities. All products are non-toxic, non hazardous and biodegradable. They do not contain any Hazardous Air Pollutants under the Clean Air Act 40 CFR Part 63, sub. Part C. Independent laboratory testing demonstrates an EPA/FIFRA Category Level IV rating for Acute Oral Toxicity, Primary Dermal Irritation and Acute Inhalation Toxicity and Eye Irritation. The Definitive Static Acute Bioassay LC50 rating is 620. The products are anti fungal and anti bacterial.Chemistry...
Odor is usually a number of different odorous molecules in the air at the same time. Each molecule requires a different treatment. The neutralization of all the odors in the air is accomplished through a combination of the following mechanisms:Adsorption: Molecules of odorous compounds will adhere or attach to the odor neutralizer molecule. There is a minute energy charge which occurs during this adsorption process that can now be detected with amplified signals. The adsorbed odorous molecule is now part of a large molecule with a significantly lower, or no, odor.
Absorption: Molecules of odorous compounds are dissolved into the odor neutralizer. Malodors usually are molecules of volatile organic compounds in a vapor or gas state. Each molecule has a specific chemical structure and that structure determines its solubility in other materials the same as if it were in liquid form. When the malodors contact the odor neutralizing molecules, they dissolve and become a new non-odorous compound.
Pairing: There are certain pairs of molecules that have a neutralizing effect on each other. Each of them has a recognizable odor on its own, but when combined in the vapor state, both become unrecognizable by a canceling effect. This phenomena, “Zwaademaker pairing”, can be used quite effectively to neutralize the malodorous molecules. Equally important is the fact that odor intensity reduction can often be affected by relatively small amounts of the compensating material compared to the malodor.
Combination: Most chemicals have the ability to react with each other to form totally different compounds. These new compounds not only have different chemical structures, but also different physical and chemical properties, including odor. Organic chemicals in particular can change odor very dramatically when they combine to form new compounds. In the liquid state, these reactions do not normally proceed very quickly, or only proceed with the addition of heat and/or catalysts. In the vapor state, however, there is a greater opportunity for the molecules to collide and react to form different compounds. In applications where heat is added the reactions can take place very quickly.
Oxidation: Malodorous molecules can be ionized or oxidized into odorless new compounds. The reactions associated with these processes occur safely and predictably. Combining the odor neutralizing products, hydroxide ions and the available oxygen in the air facilitates these vapor phase reactions. The by products of the oxidation reactions are non-hazardous, non-toxic and biodegradable.
