Air Distribution System Design and Installation
I. Pipe Materials
a. black polypropylene threaded pipe
b. Spiralite pvc cam locked suction hose
c. stainless steel or aluminum pipe
II. Installationa. Set air hose around perimeter of the odor source. Insure all bends are smooth and there will be no kinks or obstructions in the hose. Secure the hose every meter (3 feet) with strap or wire ties. All sharp bends should be installed with hard pipe elbows.
b. Drill holes one to two meters apart facing the odor source.
Doors – drill holes so the vapor will be directed into the opening.
Tanks – drill holes so the vapor will be directed over the surface.
Perimeters - drill holes so the vapor will be directed vertical.
* The total cross sectional area of the holes should not exceed the supply hose cross sectional area.
III. Air System Pipe Diameter/Cross Sectional AreaHLDA 50/75/100 2” 3.14 square inches
HLDA 300/500/750 3” 7.07 square inches
HLDA 1000/1500 4” 12.56 square inches
IV. Vapor Discharge Holes
Diameter Square Inches
Diameter Square Inches ¼” 0.045 5/16” 0.0765 3/8” 0.11
Example: 350 foot application HLDA500 unit
Use 3” pipe, 7.07 square inch area
7.07 area divided by 0.11 (3/8” holes) = 64 holes
350 feet divided by 64 holes = one hole every 5.5 feet
